Journey
Last updated: 6 August 2026
This policy explains what Journey does with your data. Journey is a voice journaling app: you talk, it transcribes what you said, and it writes a short reflection back to you each evening.
Journey is operated by Kryštof Macek, a sole trader registered in the Czech Republic, IČO 14032589, acting as the data controller under the GDPR.

Journey keeps your journal in the app's private storage on your phone:
None of this is uploaded to a server we control, and none of it is backed up by us. It is included in your device backup if you have iCloud or local backups enabled, and that backup is governed by Apple's terms, not ours. Deleting an entry in the app deletes its recording and text from the device. Deleting the app removes all of it.
Journey cannot transcribe speech or write reflections on the device alone. The following content is sent out, used for that single purpose, and not retained by us:
| What | Goes to | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Your voice recording | OpenAI, via our own proxy server | Convert speech to text |
| Your transcript text | OpenRouter, routed to Anthropic, via our own proxy server | Generate your evening reflection and tomorrow's focus |
| An anonymous subscription ID | RevenueCat | Check whether your subscription is active |
| Your purchase | Apple | Process payment and manage the subscription |
Requests to the AI providers pass through a small server we run on Cloudflare Workers. It exists so that API credentials are never shipped inside the app. It forwards your request and returns the response. It does not write your audio, transcripts or reflections to any database or file. The only things it stores are a daily request counter and your subscription status, both keyed to an anonymous identifier and both automatically expiring. Operational logs record HTTP status codes and error messages, not journal content.
Content sent for transcription and reflection is processed by OpenAI and by OpenRouter, which routes it to Anthropic. Under these providers' API terms, content submitted through the API is not used to train their models, and is retained only briefly for abuse monitoring before deletion. Their own privacy policies, linked above, govern that processing.
Subscriptions are handled by RevenueCat together with Apple. Because Journey has no accounts, RevenueCat identifies you by a randomly generated anonymous ID tied to your installation, not by name, email or device contact details. Payment is processed entirely by Apple; we never see your card details or billing address, only whether a subscription is active.
OpenAI, OpenRouter, Anthropic, RevenueCat, Cloudflare and Apple process data in the United States and other countries outside the European Economic Area. These transfers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard offered by each provider.
Journal content stays on your device until you delete it. There is no expiry and no server copy to delete. Content sent to AI providers is retained only for the limited abuse-monitoring window described in their policies. Rate-limit counters and cached subscription status on our proxy expire automatically within days.
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict and port your personal data, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests.
Because Journey stores your journal locally and has no account system, you can exercise most of these rights directly: delete individual entries in the app, or delete the app to erase everything. For anything relating to your subscription record, write to kayemapps@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.
If you believe your data has been mishandled, you may lodge a complaint with the Czech supervisory authority, the Office for Personal Data Protection (Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů), or with the authority in your own country.
Journey is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be published on this page with a new date at the top. Where the change affects how your journal content is handled, it will also be noted in the app.
